Description
The We Lead Success Team had a wonderful opportunity to be part of Leadership Texas, Class of 2026, at our May meeting. As the Leadership Women website says, Leadership Texas is “a state-wide experiential leadership program designed for professionals looking to expand their leadership skills and gain insights into key issues facing Texas, including education, healthcare, the environment, and the economy.” The schedule for the Class of 2026 started in Fort Worth in March and will finish in the Tyler/Longview area in September. In May, Leadership Texas came to Austin! The day was jam-packed, starting out with a networking breakfast where EWTG President Coleen Hall presented information on EWTG. Next, the group heard from Parisa Fatehi-Weeks, Executive Director of Every Texan, and Katie Martin Lightfoot, Director of Strategic Campaigns and Engagement. They discussed the work of Every Texan, which was founded in 1985 by the Benedictine Sisters of Boerne. The organization started as the Benedictine Resource Center and later became the Center for Public Policy Priorities. In 2020, it became Every Texan, a bipartisan organization with the vision of a more equitable Texas. Every Texan advocates for expanded access to healthcare, education, fiscal fairness, and equitable economic opportunity. The final activity was a series of round tables with leaders from various sectors. It was an opportunity for conversation and inspiration! The morning was a great way for people involved in Leadership Women and EWTG to get to know each other, learn more about both organizations, and share ideas. The next We Lead Success Team meeting is on August 27–stay tuned to see what we do!
